Of Surfaces by Richard Chartier
Let's start off the year with the minimalist-est of minimalism. On top of this, you can build anything. An eMusic review called it "dusted absence."
Thanks for reading everyone, happy new year, and onward we go.

James Devane
Recently received a disc of a net release from James Devane. It's a series of "nine live performance excerpts featuring continuously accumulating loops filtered through different processes."
It's really well done. There's a physical release scheduled for May, 2009. In the meantime, you can download the entire set of .mp3's as a .zip. Stream the tracks below to get a taste.

Music for Bus Stations by Todd Steed and John Baker
I received an email a few weeks back asking if I'd be interested in a disc of "Redneck Ambient." There's really only one response to that question.
I've since given "Music for Bus Stations" a few listens, and it's good stuff. Nice drifty melodies with just a bit of found sound thrown in. And the found sound apparently comes from a Knoxville, TN bus station. Worth a listen, and available via the links below.

Free Hidden Shoal Recordings Sampler
A free sampler record is now available for download from the always useful Australian label Hidden Shoal Recordings. It's all quality stuff, and while some of the tracks aren't particularly relevant for a site like this, it's worth the download for the ones that are.
"Anything You Synthesize" Video
Here's a really nice video for The American Dollar's Anything You Synthesize.
